Blu-ray release: ‘The Dagger of Kamui’

AnimEigo will release the 1985 Japanese animated action-adventure ‘The Dagger of Kamui’ (カムイの剣) on US Blu-ray on April 7, 2026.
Based on the novel series by Tetsu Yano and directed by Rintaro, the film follows a young ninja on the run as he uncovers the truth about his past amid a deadly hunt for hidden treasure across feudal Japan. The voice cast includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Taro Ishida, Mami Koyama, Ichiro Nagai, and Mitsuko Horie.
Synopsis: In the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate, Jiro returns home to find his adopted family murdered. After discovering a mysterious dagger, he is blamed for the crime and forced to flee. While on the run, he encounters a wandering monk who trains him in the ways of the shinobi, setting him on a path to uncover a long-buried Ainu mystery—one that may be part of a larger conspiracy.
