Digital release: 'The Curse'

Blue Finch Film Releasing will release the 2025 Japanese-Taiwanese horror film ‘The Curse’ (ザ・カース) on digital platforms across the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand on July 13, 2026.

Written and directed by Kenichi Ugana, the film centres on a Tokyo beauty salon receptionist who investigates a friend’s mysterious death and uncovers a deadly supernatural curse spreading through social media. The cast includes Yukino Kaizu, YU, Shiho, Mimi Shao, Ray Fan, and Tammy Lin.

Synopsis: After noticing disturbing social media posts from her Taiwanese friend Shufen, Tokyo beauty salon receptionist Riko attempts to intervene but fails to prevent her mysterious and violent death. Convinced there is more to the tragedy than suicide, Riko begins searching for answers in a world of viral posts, influencers, and online attention-seeking. As the death toll rises and the curse begins to close in on her, she travels to Taiwan with her friends to uncover the source of the supernatural evil before becoming its next victim.
