‘Blades of the Guardians: Wind Rises in the Desert’ (镖人:风起大漠) is a 2026 Chinese historical martial-arts action film directed by Yuen Woo-Ping.
The film follows a caravan escort whose dangerous desert mission ignites a violent struggle between rival factions. The cast includes Wu Jing, Nicholas Tse, Yu Shi, Chen Lijun, Sun Yizhou, Ci Sha, Li Yunxiao, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Max Zhang Jin, Kara Hui, and Jet Li.
Synopsis: Across a vast desert frontier, escort warriors, imperial authorities, and powerful clans from the Western Regions weave a tense web of rivalry and hidden ambition. Dao Ma, branded the empire’s second-most-wanted fugitive, accepts a perilous escort commission and sets out towards Chang’an with a small band of companions, only to discover that the person under their protection is Zhishilang — the most hunted outlaw in the realm. As rumours spread, opportunists and warlords converge, each driven by profit or power, turning the journey into a relentless chain of ambushes, shifting alliances, and bloodshed beneath the unforgiving sands.
