‘Étoile Blossoming in Paris’ (パリに咲くエトワール / Paris ni Saku Étoile) is a 2026 Japanese animated historical coming-of-age drama directed by Goro Taniguchi.
The film explores the lives of two Japanese girls in early twentieth-century Paris whose artistic ambitions are disrupted when a sudden disappearance unsettles their world. The voice cast includes Ami Toma, Lina Arashi, Taichi Saotome, Mugi Kadowaki, and Matsunojo Onoe.
Synopsis: Set in early twentieth-century Paris, two Japanese girls pursue their dreams far from home. Fujiko hopes to become a painter despite expectations that she should settle into a traditional role, while Chizuru, raised in a samurai family and skilled with the naginata, secretly longs to study ballet. Reunited years after first meeting in Yokohama, they support each other’s ambitions in a foreign city—until their lives are shaken when Fujiko’s guardian uncle suddenly disappears. [© Far East Films]
