‘Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames’ (新劇場版 銀魂 吉原大炎上) is a 2026 Japanese animated action-adventure directed by Naoya Ando.
The film adapts the ‘Yoshiwara in Flames’ arc, retelling the story of Gintoki and his allies as they challenge the violent ruler of a sunless underground district. The voice cast includes Tomokazu Sugita, Daisuke Sakaguchi, Rie Kugimiya, Yu Kobayashi, Katsuyuki Konishi, and Aya Hirano.
Synopsis: Yoshiwara is an underground district sealed away from the sun and ruled by the brutal, near-immortal Housen. Gintoki Sakata, along with Kagura and Shinpachi Shimura, becomes involved while helping Seita, a boy searching for his mother, Hinowa, a courtesan hiding a past tied to a crushed uprising. As they cross paths with Tsukuyo, a hardened protector of the district, the group is drawn into an open rebellion against Housen that will decide whether Yoshiwara remains trapped in darkness or finally breaks free.
