‘Hana Korea’ (하나 코리아) is a 2025 South Korean-Danish drama co-written and directed by Frederik Sølberg.
Inspired by a true story, the film follows a young North Korean defector as she attempts to build a new life in South Korea while confronting the emotional scars of her past. The cast includes Kim Min-Ham, Kim Joo-Ryung, Ahn Seo-Hyun, Jo Seung-Yeon, and Kim Keum-Soon.
Synopsis: After fleeing North Korea in search of freedom, Hye-seon arrives in South Korea hoping to begin again. Following interrogation by the National Intelligence Service, she enters the Hanawon resettlement centre, where she must adapt to an unfamiliar society while deciding what kind of future she wants to pursue. As she begins to settle into her new surroundings, the emotional cost of her escape threatens to undermine the life she hopes to build.
‘Hana Korea’ is scheduled for release in South Korea on July 8, 2026.
