‘Homura Kagayoe’ (炎かがよへ) is a 2026 Japanese historical drama co-written and directed by Keita Matsuda.

Drawing on real events, the film portrays a young warlord’s rise to power within a long-standing clan, where political ties and personal desires begin to shape the course of his brief rule. The cast includes Towa Araki, Motonosuke, Hina Higuchi, Yutaro, and Yoshida Metal.

Synopsis: Born into a defeated clan and sent away as a child, Ashina Moritaka grows up within the Ashina family and eventually becomes its 18th leader. After taking part in battle at a young age, he forms a close bond with Satake Yoshishige and later rises to power through marriage. As he settles into his position, his judgment begins to shift after becoming drawn to one of his retainers, setting off a chain of events that shape his short life. [© Far East Films]
