‘NEW GROUP’ is a 2026 Japanese horror-satire co-written and directed by Yuta Shimotsu.
The film centres on a mysterious phenomenon that spreads through a school, drawing students into an increasingly unsettling form of collective behaviour. The cast includes Anna Yamada, Yuzu Aoki, Ren Komai, Nodoka Kinoshita, Arisa Sasaki, and Karin Rogers.
Synopsis: Ai, a shy high-school student who struggles to express herself, becomes fascinated by a confident transfer student who refuses to conform to the expectations of their school. When students begin gathering into human pyramids and willingly surrendering themselves to a strange collective behaviour, the phenomenon spreads rapidly across the campus. As more people are drawn into the growing movement, Ai struggles to resist its influence while those around her embrace it without question. [© Far East Films]
