‘Reflections in the Lake’ (时间旅馆) is a 2026 Chinese romantic drama written and directed by Zhai Yixiang.
Adapted from a novel by Cao Kou, the film tells the story of a novelist whose reunion with a former lover during her brief visit leads to a revelation that reshapes their shared history. The cast includes Zhang Benyu, Wang Jiajia, Yang Pingdao, Yang Jin, and Wang Feifei.
Synopsis: Novelist Li Tang receives an unexpected phone call from Gao Li, a woman he once loved, who tells him she will be visiting his city for a three-day work trip. When they meet again, the brief span of time draws them into a strange emotional journey—revisiting memories of their past, sharing moments in the present, and imagining what their lives might have become. As her visit comes to an end, Gao Li takes Li Tang to the shores of Xuanwu Lake, where she reveals a long-buried story that leaves him stunned and unable to respond. In that quiet moment, as old truths surface and time seems to blur, Li Tang finds himself disoriented, unsure whether he is standing in the present or somewhere lost between memory and reflection.
