‘Samakdo’ (삼악도) is a 2026 South Korean occult horror directed by Chae Ki-Jun.

The film follows a journalist investigating a defunct cult whose legacy awakens sinister forces in a remote village. The cast includes Jo Yun-Seo, Kwak Si-Yang, Yang Joo-Ho, Lim So-Young, and Jang Eui-Su.

Synopsis: When a reporter and a foreign journalist begin investigating the remnants of a religious sect known as Samdo, their search leads them to an isolated village shrouded in secrecy and fear. What was once dismissed as a relic of the colonial era slowly reveals itself to be something far more insidious, as whispers of forbidden rituals and unfinished prophecies resurface. As the pair dig deeper into the cult’s history, the boundary between rumour and reality begins to collapse, drawing them into a tightening web of dread where belief itself becomes a conduit for terror. ‘Samakdo’ opens in South Korean cinemas on March 11, 2026.
