‘The Convenience Store’ (夜勤事件) is a 2026 Japanese psychological horror thriller directed by Jiro Nagae.

Based on the 2020 indie horror game by Chilla’s Art, the film follows a night-shift clerk whose quiet routine is disrupted by a series of increasingly ominous encounters inside a small convenience store. The cast includes Kotona Minami, Tetsuta Seki, Shunsuke Tanaka, Natsuki Kato, and Terunosuke Takezai.

Synopsis: A young woman working the overnight shift at a quiet neighbourhood convenience store finds her routine slowly unravelling as strange customers, unexplained disturbances, and eerie late-night encounters begin to blur the line between exhaustion and something far more sinister, forcing her to confront a creeping presence that seems to grow stronger with every passing shift. ‘The Convenience Store’ opens in Japanese cinemas on February 20, 2026. The original game is also available on Steam.
