‘Three Kingdoms: The Beginning’ (三国第一部:争洛阳) is a 2026 Chinese historical animated film directed by Xie Junwei.

The first instalment in Light Chaser Animation’s Three Kingdoms trilogy, the film centres on Cao Cao and Yuan Shao as they attempt to restore order to the Han court amid the political turmoil engulfing Luoyang. The voice cast includes Wang Kai, Wei Chao, Wan Hao, Li Nan, Chang Wentao, Tang Mingdong, Yan Yansheng, Chen Zhe, and Li Shimeng.

Synopsis: In the final years of the Eastern Han dynasty, the empire is thrown into turmoil by the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the struggle for power between imperial relatives and the eunuch faction. Hoping to restore stability to the Han court, Cao Cao and Yuan Shao seek the support of General He Jin in an attempt to curb the eunuchs’ influence. Their plans are disrupted when Dong Zhuo enters the capital amid the chaos and moves to depose the emperor. As the struggle for Luoyang intensifies, Yuan Shu, Lü Bu, Sun Jian, and other figures who will shape the coming conflict are drawn into the turmoil. [© Far East Films]
