‘Vanishing Point’ (消失的人) is a 2026 Chinese crime thriller written and directed by Cheng Wei-Hao.
Adapted from the novel ‘Sea Anemone’ by Bei Baokang, the film centres on a quiet apartment building where a series of disturbing incidents reveal the darkness beneath everyday lives. The cast includes Zheng Kai, Liu Haocun, Roy Chiu, Li Chen, Jiang Yan, and Huang Xiaolei.
Synopsis: On an ordinary morning, a man’s young son vanishes without a trace in a stairwell, setting off a chain of disturbing events within an ordinary residential building. In a neighbouring unit, a young woman living alone wakes to the aftermath of an assault, while elsewhere a desperate tenant, covered in blood, struggles to conceal a body behind a web of lies. As unease spreads through the building, the familiar faces passing in the corridors begin to feel increasingly sinister, revealing that beneath the surface of everyday life, hidden violence and fear may be closer than anyone suspects.
