‘Every Trick in the Book’ (鳩の撃退法) is a 2021 Japanese thriller directed by Hideta Takahata.

Based on a novel by Shogo Sato, the film follows the editor of a famous novelist who begins to question whether her client’s stories are actually works of fiction. The cast includes Tatsuya Fujiwara, Tao Tsuchiya, Shunsuke Kazama, Nanase Nishino, and Etsushi Toyokawa.

Synopsis: Shinichi Tsuda (Tatsuya Fujiwara), a Naoki Prize winning author, is working to publish his newest story. It revolves around Tsuyama, a driver for a call girl business in Toyama Prefecture, who comes across a mysterious counterfeit bill and has his life targeted by underworld kingpin Kurata. His editor, Nahomi Torikai (Tao Tsuchiya), decides to verify whether his latest work is mere fiction based on real-life experiences.
