Trailer: ‘Dunhuang Warriors’

‘Dunhuang Warriors’ (敦煌英雄) is a 2026 Chinese historical action film directed by Cao Dun.

Set during the Tang dynasty, the film follows the people of Shazhou as they rise against their rulers and attempt to restore the region’s ties with the Tang Empire after more than 60 years of isolation. The cast includes Zhang Yu, Shawn Dou, Lü Liang, Cai Lu, Zhao Yunzhuo, and Zhang Yifan.

Synopsis: More than 60 years after Shazhou was cut off from the Tang Empire, its people launch an uprising led by Zhang Yichao. Facing a far stronger enemy, grain thief Lang Yaozi and deserter Nuoci unexpectedly join Zhang Yichao’s daughter Zhang Yueya and Cao Guangzong on a mission to seek help, carrying with them the last hopes of the people of Shazhou.
