Trailer: ‘As the River Goes By’

‘As the River Goes By’ (水东游) is a 2026 Chinese drama written and directed by Hu Zhaoxiang.

The film follows a train driver whose memories of his childhood begin to resurface following an aftershock and a reunion with his former classmates. The cast includes Dylan Xiong, Eva Zhao, Jiang Hongyu, Zheng Haosen, and Chen Zhang.

Synopsis: Twelve years after an earthquake, an aftershock seems to reconnect Xiao Li with his childhood. Following a class reunion, he takes the camera his father gave him to a riverbank and appears to photograph someone he knew as a child. As memories of the past begin to return, Xiao Li is forced to confront the mystery of his father’s disappearance and an accident that occurred during a childhood game of hide-and-seek.
