Trailer: ‘August Grove’

‘August Grove’ (八月の杜) is a 2026 Japanese drama directed by Takaho Iwamoto.

The film follows an elderly woman who lost her memories of her parents during the 1945 Tokyo air raids and has spent much of her life searching for clues to her past. The cast includes Setsuko Karasuma, Nahana, Yu Kamimura, Arisa Sakamaki, and Hideaki Murata.

Synopsis: Fumi Nakahara lost all memory of her parents during an air raid as a child and grew up without ever knowing the warmth of hearing them call her name. Now nearing the end of her life, she continues to attend memorial services and search for the home where she grew up and the names of her parents. During an extended stay at a hotel, Fumi meets its young manager Kana, who is facing troubles of her own as financial difficulties threaten the business. As the two women gradually form a bond, Fumi’s long-stalled search for her past begins to move forward. [© Far East Films]
