Blu-ray release: ‘Outlanders’

Discotek Media will release the 1986 Japanese sci-fi comedy OVA ‘Outlanders’ (アウトランダーズ) on Blu-ray in the US on October 27, 2026.

Directed by Katsuhisa Yamada and based on the manga by Johji Manabe, the story follows a young photojournalist whose life is turned upside down when an alien princess invading Earth decides that she wants to marry him. The voice cast includes Fumi Hirano, Mitsuo Iwata, Mari Yokoo, Akira Kamiya, Mika Doi, and Kenji Utsumi.

Synopsis: During an alien invasion of Earth, photojournalist Tetsuya Wakatsuki encounters Kahm, a horned princess of the powerful Santovasku Empire. After she unexpectedly chooses Tetsuya as her future husband, the pair find themselves caught between the survival of Earth and the fury of Kahm’s father, who has no intention of allowing his daughter to marry a human.
