Trailer: ‘Village of Eight Gravestones’

‘Village of Eight Gravestones’ (八つ墓村) is a 2026 Japanese mystery horror directed by Takashi Shimizu.

Based on Seishi Yokomizo’s novel, the film follows a university student who travels to a remote village in Okayama, where his unexpected inheritance coincides with a series of mysterious murders. The cast includes Matsuya Onoe, Tomoya Oku, Mayu Hotta, Reiko Takashima, and Kenichi Takito.

Synopsis: After receiving news of his mother’s death, university student Tatsuya Igawa is invited by detective Kosuke Kindaichi to visit Eight Gravestones Village, a remote community in the mountains of Okayama where his mother was born. Tatsuya discovers that he is heir to the considerable fortune of the Tajimi family, but his arrival coincides with a series of unexplained murders.
