4K UHD & Blu-ray release: ‘The Story of Ricky’

88 Films will release the 1991 Hong Kong action horror film ‘The Story of Ricky’ (力王 / Riki-Oh) on Limited Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray in the UK on July 20, 2026.
Directed by Lam Nai-Choi and based on the manga by Masahiko Takajo and Tetsuya Saruwatari, the film follows a martial artist incarcerated in a privately run prison who wages war against its brutal hierarchy. The cast includes Fan Siu-Wong, Fan Mei-Sheng, William Ho Ka-Kui, Yukari Oshima, and Tetsuro Tamba.
Synopsis: In a future where prisons are run by private corporations, Ricky Ho is sentenced to a brutal penitentiary after being convicted of manslaughter. Refusing to accept the violence and corruption that dominate daily life behind bars, he challenges the prison’s ruthless authorities and powerful inmate enforcers. As tensions escalate, Ricky’s extraordinary fighting abilities turn him into a symbol of resistance against a system built on fear and oppression.
