4K UHD release: ‘A Better Tomorrow Trilogy’

Arrow Video will release ‘A Better Tomorrow Trilogy’ on Limited Edition 4K UHD in the UK on September 22, 2026.

The collection brings together John Woo’s ‘A Better Tomorrow’ (英雄本色) and ‘A Better Tomorrow II’ (英雄本色II) alongside Tsui Hark’s prequel ‘A Better Tomorrow III: Love & Death in Saigon’ (英雄本色III 夕陽之歌). The trilogy follows men caught between the criminal underworld and the law as old loyalties continue to shape their lives. The cast includes Ti Lung, Chow Yun-Fat, Leslie Cheung, Dean Shek, Anita Mui, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Waise Lee, and Kenneth Tsang.

A Better Tomorrow (1986): Triad member Sung Tse-ho struggles to leave his criminal past behind after a betrayal destroys his counterfeit operation and drives a wedge between him and his police officer brother. With the help of his loyal friend Mark Lee, Ho fights to rebuild his life while confronting a ruthless former associate determined to seize control.

A Better Tomorrow II (1987): Released from prison, Ho agrees to help the police investigate his former mentor’s suspected counterfeiting operation. As a violent gang leader turns against the organisation, Ho, Mark, and his brother Kit are drawn into another deadly struggle that tests their loyalty to family and each other.

A Better Tomorrow III: Love & Death in Saigon (1989): Set before the events of the original film, Mark Lee travels to war-torn Saigon to help his uncle and cousin escape Vietnam. There he meets the fearless Chow Ying-kit, whose involvement in the black-market arms trade draws them into the chaos of the final days of the Vietnam War.
