Blu-ray release: ‘Girl’

Deltamac will release the 2025 Taiwanese-Chinese coming-of-age drama ‘Girl’ (女孩) on Taiwanese Blu-ray on April 11, 2026.
Written and directed by Shu Qi, the film explores a young girl’s struggle to escape a troubled home life as a new friendship brings hope and exposes her mother’s buried pain. The cast includes Bai Xiao-Ying, Roy Chiu, 9m88, Lin Pin-Tung, and Lai Yu-Fei.
Synopsis: In 1988 Keelung, Lin Hsiao Lee (Bai Xiao-Ying) grows up in an unhappy environment, longing to escape poverty and a dysfunctional family. Her father (Roy Chiu) often comes home drunk and takes out his anger on those around him. When Hsiao Lee meets Lili (Lin Pin-Tung), a girl her age who lives freely and fearlessly, she begins to see a different way of life. However, this awakening stirs painful memories for her mother Ajuan (9m88), whose own hopes were once crushed by reality. As tensions rise between them, Hsiao Lee finds herself torn between her mother and the possibility of a different future.
