Blu-ray release: 'New Directors from Japan: Takashi Ono'

Third Window Films will release a collection of four films directed by Takashi Ono on UK Blu-ray on April 20, 2026.

New Directors from Japan is a series spotlighting emerging filmmakers from Japan’s ultra-independent ‘jishu-eiga’ scene, many of whom have gained attention through the country’s network of mini-theatres. Ono’s ‘I Am Baseball’ premiered at Tokyo’s Cinema Rosa in August 2023, where its extended run marked it as a notable success. Despite limited resources, Ono’s work draws on the aesthetics of the late Showa era, a style reflected across this four-film collection.

I Am Baseball (野球どアホウ未亡人, 2023, 60 mins)
