Blu-ray release: 'Picture of a Nymph'

88 Films will release the 1988 Hong Kong fantasy romance ‘Picture of a Nymph’ (畫中仙) on UK Blu-ray on February 23, and on US Blu-ray on March 10, 2026.

Co-written and directed by Wu Ma, the film depicts a gentle scholar whose devotion to an idealised muse erodes the boundary between art and reality. The cast includes Yuen Biao, Joey Wong, Wu Ma, Lam Wai, and Elizabeth Lee.

Synopsis: Set in ancient China, a gentle scholar’s chance encounter with a mysterious young woman blossoms into a love that transcends life and death. When he unwittingly frees a vengeful demon, her spirit becomes the key to its return, forcing him to hide her within a painted portrait as dark supernatural forces close in.
