Third Window Films will release the 1981 Japanese drama ‘Scars of the Sun’ (太陽のきずあと) and 1983 Japanese docudrama ‘Blow the Night’ (夜をぶっとばせ) on Limited Edition Blu-ray in the UK on July 27, 2026.

Directed by Chusei Sone, the two films examine youth delinquency and gang culture in early 1980s Japan. The cast across both films includes Kenichi Kaneda, Ken Ogata, Kyoko Enami, Namie Takada, Kazumi Kawai, and Shuichiro Moriyama.

Scars of the Sun (1981): A member of a close-knit gang finds the group’s fragile balance disrupted when he is reunited with his estranged brother. As new relationships begin to challenge the customs and loyalties that have long held the group together, tensions rise between its members, threatening to tear it apart.

Blow the Night (1983): Based on the experiences of teenage delinquent Namie Takada, the film stars Takada as herself in a raw portrayal of youth on the margins of Japanese society. Following her transfer to a new school, she is drawn deeper into a world of violence, substance abuse, and rebellion, setting her on a destructive path.
