Blu-ray release: ‘Warm Water Under a Red Bridge’

Radiance Films will release the 2001 Japanese romantic comedy ‘Warm Water Under a Red Bridge’ (赤い橋の下のぬるい水) on UK Blu-ray on June 22, 2026.
Directed by Shohei Imamura, the film follows an unemployed man whose search for a hidden treasure leads him to a remote coastal village, where he encounters a woman with an unusual and transformative secret. The cast includes Koji Yakusho, Misa Shimizu, Mitsuko Baisho, Mansaku Fuwa, Isao Natsuyagi, and Yukiya Kitamura.
Synopsis: After losing his job and drifting through a life of uncertainty, a middle-aged man sets out in pursuit of a rumoured cache hidden in a seaside town. Instead, he becomes entangled with a mysterious woman whose extraordinary physical condition reshapes his understanding of desire, connection, and purpose. As he adjusts to life in the village, his journey takes on an increasingly surreal and introspective tone, blurring the line between personal reinvention and illusion.
