Imprint Films will release ‘The Swordsman Collection’ on Limited Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray in Australia on June 25, 2026. The three-film set collects the Hong Kong wuxia classics ‘Swordsman’ (笑傲江湖), ‘Swordsman II’ (笑傲江湖II東方不敗), and ‘Swordsman III: The East Is Red’ (東方不敗─風雲再起).

Produced by Tsui Hark and based loosely on the novels of Louis Cha (Jin Yong), the trilogy follows wandering swordsmen caught in violent conflicts between rival sects and political forces within the martial arts world. As the story progresses, the rise of the enigmatic Dongfang Bubai reshapes the balance of power, drawing warriors and allies into deadly confrontations. The cast across the trilogy includes Samuel Hui, Cecilia Yip, Jet Li, Brigitte Lin, Rosamund Kwan, Joey Wong, and Michelle Reis.

Swordsman (1990): A young swordsman becomes caught in a deadly struggle between rival clans seeking a powerful martial arts manual said to hold immense power within the jianghu. As alliances shift and betrayals mount, he is drawn deeper into a dangerous conflict involving corrupt officials, assassins, and wandering warriors.

Swordsman II (1992): Linghu Chong’s search for peace is shattered when he crosses paths with the mysterious Dongfang Bubai, a powerful figure whose martial arts mastery and growing influence threaten to destabilise the martial world. As rival factions close in, personal loyalties and hidden identities begin to blur amid escalating violence.

Swordsman III: The East Is Red (1993): As rumours spread about the return of Dongfang Bubai, rival warriors and foreign invaders converge in pursuit of the legendary fighter. Their journey leads them into a series of dangerous encounters where obsession, ambition, and myth become increasingly intertwined.
