Blu-ray & 4K UHD release: ‘I Love Maria’

Shout! Studios will release the 1988 Hong Kong sci-fi action comedy ‘I Love Maria’ (鐵甲無敵瑪利亞) on Blu-ray and 4K UHD in the US on May 26, 2026.
Directed by David Chung, the film centres on a reporter, a police inventor, and a reprogrammed robot who become caught up in a battle against a gang using deadly combat machines. The cast includes John Shum, Sally Yeh, Tsui Hark, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, and Lam Ching-Ying.
Synopsis: The “Hero Gang”, a nasty group of thugs, is terrorising Hong Kong with their killer robots. But when one of the machines is damaged during a mission to eliminate an outcast, a police inventor takes her in and rewrites her programming. The new code—combined with damage to her logic centre—transforms the machine into a robot with a genuine personality.
