‘Downfall’ (零落) is a 2023 Japanese drama directed by Naoto Takenaka.

Based on a manga by Inio Asano, the film follows a manga artist whose life is going downhill until he meets and falls for a prostitute. The cast includes Takumi Saito, Shuri, Megumi, Rio Yamashita, and Kazunari Tosa.

Synopsis: Kaoru Fukazawa (Takumi Saito) is a manga artist. His manga series was published for 8 years but has now finished. He doesn’t have any ideas for his next work and his situation seems bleak, with his editor seeming to not care about him anymore and his relationship with his wife Nozomi Machida (Megumi) being troubled. He spends his days in despair and darkness. Kaoru visits a business that provides sexual services and meets a prostitute called Chifuyu (Shuri).
